Fred J. Parks, Jr., 83, of 113 Covington Road, died Monday, February 12, 2007 at his home following an extended illness. Born in Laurens County, Mr. Parks was the son of the late Fred J. Parks, Sr. and Nora Cooper Parks. He was employed with J.P. Stevens & Co. for more than forty years. Mr. Parks served with the United States Marine Corp during World War II and the Korean Conflict and was honorably discharged with the rank of Captain. Mr. Parks was preceded in death by his wife of sixty-one years, Jacqueline Morse Parks. Surviving are two daughters, Cindy Norris and husband David of Travelers Rest, and Melissa Fox and husband James of Travelers Rest; a son, Harold M. Parks and wife Wanda of West Jefferson, NC; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Services will be held Friday at 2:00 pm at Sans Souci Baptist Church with visitation from 12:45 ? 1:45 pm prior to the service in the Turner Fellowship Hall of Sans Souci Baptist Church. A private burial will be held at Woodlawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Lutheran Hospice, 218 Trade Street, Suite A, Greer, SC 29651.
