Frederick Randolph Darkis, Jr., 76, of 3 Dargan St., died Thursday, May 31, 2006. A native of Durham, N.C., he was a son of the late Frederick Darkis, Sr. and Mildred M. Darkis, and husband of the late Lydia Ethel Johnson Darkis. Mr. Darkis was an author and a member of Christ United Methodist Church. Surviving are four stepdaughters, Claudette Pilgrim and Wanda Bagwell of Greenville, Sheila Odom of Atlanta, and Rene? Cooper of Simpsonville; a stepson, Thomas R. Lowell of Mt. Carmel; a brother, Thomas M. Darkis of Danville, VA, and a sister, Barbara Blake of Williamsburg, VA. He was predeceased by a stepson, Carroll S. Lowell. Funeral services will be Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Northwest with visitation from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. prior to the service. Burial will be at Graceland East Memorial Park. The family is at their respective homes.
