Furman Lamar Staton

Furman Lamar Staton, 77, of 2 Pemberton Drive, died Monday, March 19, 2007. Born in Greenville, he was a son of the late Alonzo and Sarah Friddle Staton and husband of thirty years of the late Louise Duvall Staton. Mr. Staton served in the U.S. Navy and retired from J.P. Steven Monaghan Plant after thirty-one years of service. He was a member of Cathedral of the Cross. Surviving are a daughter, Wanda Sanders and husband Thomas, of Greenville; two sons, Ricky Staton and wife Karen of Liberty, and Robert Staton of Greenville; three stepchildren, Diane Mann, Carolyn Linder, and Tracey Duvall; a sister, Margaret Joyner and husband Jack, of Georgia; six grandchildren, Tonya Sanzari, Cynthia Brown, Harley and Griffin Staton, Andy Bellew, and Amanda Sanders; and two great-grandchildren, Jocelyn Sanzari and Michaela Brown. He was predeceased by a sister, Clara Dillon; and two brothers, Franklin and Charles Staton. Graveside services will be Thursday at 1:30 pm at Greenville Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to American Leprosy Missions, 1 Alm Way, Greenville, SC 29601. The family is at their respective homes.
