Garland Kenneth Whitlock

Garland Kenneth Whitlock, 68, of Greenville, died Friday, November 28, 2008. Born in Pickens, Mr. Whitlock was the husband of Martha "Jean" Chapman Whitlock, and the son of Sarah E. Anthony Whitlock and the late Doyle H. Whitlock. He retired from Duke Power where he was a nuclear technician. He was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church where he was involved with construction needs and maintenance of the children's home. He supported his brother in his ministry and mission work. He considered himself a "jack of all trades." In addition to his loving wife and mother, he is survived by a daughter, Sherry Jenkins and her husband, Mark; and a son, Jaimie Whitlock; two granddaughters, Jessica Burton and Taylor Jenkins; one great-granddaughter, Chelsie Burton; a sister, Kathy Morgan; and a brother, Donnie Whitlock. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 Noon on Wednesday, December 3, 2008 in the chapel of Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Northwest. Visitation will be held from 6:30 until 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, December 2, 2008. Burial will be at Greenville Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, SC Chapter, 1247 Lake Murray Blvd., Irmo, SC 29063. The family wishes to thank the staff of St. Francis Hospital and many friends for their care and support given during his illness. The family will be at their respective homes.
