Gilbert Frank Schaffner, Jr

Gilbert Frank Schaffner, Jr., 61, of 701 Reid School Road, husband of Patricia Mary Huban Schaffner, died Thursday, February 23, 2006 at Greenville Memorial Medical Center. Born in Kingston, NY, he was the son of the late Dr. Gilbert Frank Schaffner, Sr. and Elizabeth Helen Higgins Schaffner. Mr. Schaffner was retired from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and was a member of St. Barnabas Episcopal Church in Warwick, RI. Surviving in addition to his wife are two daughters and sons-in-law, Ann Marie Schaffner and Richard Reeves of Greer, Heidi Mary Schaffner and Steve Mills of Travelers Rest; a son and daughter-in-law, Stephen Gilbert and Wendy Schaffner of Wakefield, NH; two brothers, Paul W. and Richard J. Schaffner both of Warwick, RI.; and nine grandchildren, Amanda, Melissa, Alisha, Gregory, Kristina, Austin, Jacob, Amber, and Christopher. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Cancer Centers of the Carolinas, PO Box 9108, Greenville, SC 29604. Visitation will be held Friday, February 24, 2006 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the residence, 701 Reid School Road, Taylors. A memorial service will be conducted at a later date in Warwick, RI.
