Gladys Stobbe Runzel

February 7, 1920 - July 17, 2006
Gladys Runzel, 86, of 22 River Birch Way, formerly of Riverside, California, widow of Alfred Keith Runzel, died Monday, July 17, 2006 at her residence. Born in Chicago, IL., she was a daughter of the late Albert and Dagmar Hegstead Stobbe. Mrs. Runzel received her Teaching Certificate through Head Start in California. She taught Art China Painting and Ceramics at the University of California at Riverside. She was of the Lutheran faith. She currently attended Covenant United Methodist Church with her friends and enjoyed china painting and growing flowers. Surviving, are two sons, John Runzel of Taylors, Scott Runzel and his wife Mary of Greer; two daughters, Joni Naples of St. Charles, MO., Nancy Leach and her husband Gerald of Seneca; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; and three sisters, Ruth, Lucille, and Pat. A memorial service will be conducted Sunday, July 23, 2006 at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown. Visitation will follow the service at the funeral home.
