Gloria Mullinax Bond, 81, died Tuesday, December 26, 2006. Born on October 12, 1925 in Winter Park, FL., she was the daughter of the late Ralph and Laura Mullinax. Gloria was a graduate of Parker High School. She went on to become a highly respected retail advertising professional, starting with JC Penney, and spending most of her career with Belk Simpson, where she worked her way up to Vice President of Sales Promotion. She served as a mentor with all she came into contact with and was instrumental in Belk Simpson?s rapid growth. After retirement, she was a crusader in creating the school for the Greenville Seventh Day Adventist Church, where she was a Board member and Deacon of the church. Gloria loved classical music, art, gardening and animals. She found beauty and joy in the simplest of things. She will be remembered by all who knew her as humble and devoted to her family and friends. Aunt Dee Dee leaves behind her loving nieces, Gloria Chrietzberg and her husband, Buddy, and Nancy Taylor and her husband, Sid, great niece, Emily Chrietzberg, Taylor daughters and children, plus her special Mullinax cousins. In addition to her parents, Gloria was preceded in death by her brother, Frederick, who was killed by a drunken driver in 1943, and her sister, Clara Kaplan and her husband, Leon. The love of her life, Charles A. Bond, died in 1969, after only 11 short years of marriage. They are reunited at last. Visitation will be held Friday, December 29, 2006 from 11:00 a.m until 12:00 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown. Graveside services will follow at noon at Springwood Cemetery.
