Grady Loyd Herd

Grady Loyd Herd, 84, husband of Mary Geneva Holliday Herd for 64 years, died Monday, January 14, 2008. Born in Pickens County, he was the son of the late Dennis Guy and Nora Elizabeth Smith Herd. Mr. Herd was the retired founder and former owner of G & H Home Improvement and a member of First Wesleyan Church. He served in the Army in World War II. Surviving, in addition to his wife, are two daughters, Georgia Lynn Wingrove and husband, James, Yvonne Herd Arrowood and husband, Gary; two sons, David Michael Herd and Mark Anthony Herd and his wife, Glenda; eight grandchildren, Joshua, Jonathan, and Joseph Arrowood, Heather Hammack, Holly Salle, Hayley McClain, Ashley and Bradley Herd.; six great grandchildren; and three sisters, Gladys Rampey, Mildred Himes and Elizabeth Littleton. He was not only loved by his family, but also his friends and associates that he encountered during his lifetime. He was predeceased by three sisters, Edith Stansell, Vera Littleton Wood, and Nellie Gouldlock. Memorials may be made to Greenville First Wesleyan Church, 101 S. Visitation will be held from 1:30 to 2:45 p.m. on Wednesday, January 16, 2008 at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown. The funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. in the Downtown Chapel.
