Gregory “Greg” Palmer, 65, of Taylors, husband of Julie McCraw Palmer, died Thursday, February 22, 2024.
Born in Shelby, NC, he was the son of Joe Palmer and the late Grace Wright Palmer.
Greg was a member of Holland Park Church in Simpsonville. Greg was a devoted husband, a passionate gardener, a music enthusiast, and a faithful servant. His life was a beautiful tapestry of simple joys and profound beliefs. He found joy in square dancing, hand in hand with his beloved wife, Julie. An ardent admirer of nature’s beauty, he spent countless hours wandering the grounds of the Biltmore, marveling at the intricate designs of its landscapes. He and Julie would sit for hours by the river, sleeping, snoring, and being calmed by the flow of the river. A dedicated student of the Bible, he found solace, guidance, and endless wisdom in its pages. Personal Bible study was not just a routine but a journey into the depths of faith, a path he walked with reverence and unwavering commitment. Music filled his home and heart, due to its shared language of emotion and connection. He was always ready to lend an ear and share a song. As we bid farewell to our friend, we find comfort in the knowledge that his legacy will continue to bloom in the gardens he tended, the music he shared, the wisdom he imparted, and the love he spread.
In addition to his beloved wife and father, he is survived by his brother, Mike and Dee Palmer (Richmond, VA); sister, Betsy and Todd Herndon (San Antonio, TX); and four nieces and one nephew; Grace Herndon (Austin, TX), Wright Herndon (Austin, TX), Meredith and Jay Bogardus (Huntsville, AL), Caroline Palmer (Franklin, TN), and Meredith Herndon (San Antonio, TX).
A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 27, 2024, at Holland Park Church, 1131 Holland Rd, Simpsonville, SC 29681.
