Gwendolyn Kinney, 87, wife of the late James Kinney, passed away Wednesday, September 22, 2021.

Born in Lincoln Co. GA, she was the daughter of the late Willie and Bessie Wellmaker.

Mrs. Kinney was a member of Clearview Baptist Church. She retired after a successful career as a secretary for the Greenville City Fire Department. She loved her church, the Lord and her family. Gwendolyn had a loving spirit that others gravitated toward, she had a special place in her heart especially for her nieces and nephews, she would take on the mothering role when needed and gave them guidance in their daily walk. Her greatest joy came from the time spent in fellowship with her loved ones. Her presence will be forever missed.

She is survived by daughter, Dianne Harris (Danny); son, Jimmy Kinney (Carol); granddaughters, Stacey Dilworth (Jonathan) and Amanda Ellison (Matthew) ; great granddaughters, Avery and Adelyn Ellison; great-grandsons, Tucker and Oakley Dilworth; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Billy Wellmaker.

A visitation will be held Saturday, September 25, 2021 from 6:00 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Homes, Northwest. A funeral service will be held Sunday, September 26, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. at Clearview Baptist Church. Burial will be held in Woodlawn Memorial Park.
