Harold Franklin Owings

Harold Franklin Owings, 79, of 2828 New Easley Highway, died Monday, December 15, 2008. Born in Greenville, he was a son of the late James Perry Owings and Emma Robinson Owings. Mr. Owings served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He was owner of Welcome Tire, Welcome Fuel Oil Company, and Berea Shell and was a member of White Horse Heights Baptist Church. Surviving is his wife of fifty-six years, Margaret Ann Arnold Owings, of the home; two children, Dale Owings and wife Joan of Easley and Lisa Owings Coker and husband Rusty of Greenville; five grandchildren, Rachel, Brett, Kelsie, Stephen, and Jared; a great grandchild, Whitney; a sister, Ora Mae Bentley and husband Charles, of Simpsonville. He was predeceased by four brothers and a sister. Visitation will be Thursday, December 18, 2008 from 6:30 – 8:00 pm at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Northwest. The funeral will be Friday, December 19, 2008 at 3:00 pm at White Horse Heights Baptist Church. Burial will be at Graceland Cemetery, West. Memorials may be made to Interim Hospice, 775 Spartan Blvd., Suite 101, Spartanburg, SC 29301. The family is at the residence.
