Hawkins Clarence Shelton

July 18, 1928 - February 11, 2008
Hawkins Clarence Shelton, 79, husband of Helen Lounge Shelton, died Monday, February 11, 2008 at McCall Hospice House. Born in Travelers Rest, he was the son of the late Homer and Nora Lorene Keeler Shelton. Mr. Shelton served in the United States Army and retired from the United States Air Force following 20 years of service. He served during the Korean Conflict and Vietnam. Surviving, in addition to his wife, are a daughter, Melinda S. Straub of Simpsonville; a son, Walter H. Shelton of Simpsonville; two brothers, Marshall C. Shelton of Mauldin and Kenneth P. Shelton of Simpsonville. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Herbert, Albert and Kermit Shelton. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to McCall Hospice House, 1836 W. Georgia Road, Simpsonville, SC 29680. A graveside service will be held Thursday, February 14, 2008 at 1:30 p.m. at Graceland East Memorial Park with visitation to follow at the graveside. The family will be at their respective homes.
