Helen Elrod Wright, 84, of 76 Tilbury Way, widow of John Berry Wright, died Thursday, September 25, 2008. Born in Greenville, she was the daughter of the late Luther Clay and Eva Maurie Williams Elrod. Mrs. Wright was a graduate of Greenville High School and attended Furman University. She was a charter member of Northgate Baptist Church and was a member of the Ruth Sunday School Class and church choir. She was a member of the Greenville Woman's Club and the Knit Wits Social Group. She loved to bake and was known for her delicious cakes. Surviving are two daughters and their husbands, Cheryl W. and Howard E. Russell and Trisha W. and William C. Biediger; a son and his wife, John B. and Kathy B. Wright; six grandchildren, Craig and Clarke Russell, Chris and John Biediger, Bradley Wright, and Melanie Claire Horvat; five great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews whom she considered her own children. She was predeceased by a son, Craig Wright. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Northgate Baptist Church, 633 Summit Dr., Greenville, SC 29609. Visitation will be Saturday, September 27, 2008 from 10:30 to 11:45 a.m. at Northgate Baptist Church with the funeral service following at noon. Burial will be at Woodlawn Memorial Park. The family will be at their respective homes.
