Henry Leland Evatt, 83, beloved husband of the late Sonja Evatt, passed away Monday, January 17, 2022.
Born in Central, SC, he was the son of the late Samuel and Gertrude Crowe Evatt.
Henry was a 1956 graduate of Parker High School. After High School, he proudly served his country in the United States Army. He attended Bethesda United Methodist Church for many years. He was also an avid photographer and took much pride in his work, as it brought him much joy. Henry enjoyed many activities, but he had a few favorite past times; he loved to golf and to attend the Masters in Augusta. He was also an avid Clemson fan; not just football but anything to do with Clemson; he attended many events at Clemson. His greatest love above all, was his family and his presence will be forever missed, but carried on through each of them.
He is survived by sons, Perry Evatt (Susan) and Bradley Evatt (Laura); grandchildren, Perry W. Evatt, Alexandra C. Evatt and Lauren B. Evatt; brother, Thomas Joseph Evatt (Martha); sister, Grace Helen Cowart (James); and a special friend, Marie Ford.
In addition to his loving wife and parents, he was preceded in death by brother, Billy S. Evatt and sister, Sarah A. Evatt.
A visitation will be held Saturday, January 22, 2022 from 12:00 p.m. until 1:15 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Homes, Northwest, with the funeral service to follow at 1:30 p.m. in the Northwest Chapel. Burial will be held at Graceland Cemetery West.
