Henry Leland Evatt, 83, beloved husband of the late Sonja Evatt, passed away Monday, January 17, 2022.

Born in Central, SC, he was the son of the late Samuel and Gertrude Crowe Evatt.

Henry was a 1956 graduate of Parker High School. After High School, he proudly served his country in the United States Army. He attended Bethesda United Methodist Church for many years. He was also an avid photographer and took much pride in his work, as it brought him much joy. Henry enjoyed many activities, but he had a few favorite past times; he loved to golf and to attend the Masters in Augusta. He was also an avid Clemson fan; not just football but anything to do with Clemson; he attended many events at Clemson. His greatest love above all, was his family and his presence will be forever missed, but carried on through each of them.

He is survived by sons, Perry Evatt (Susan) and Bradley Evatt (Laura); grandchildren, Perry W. Evatt, Alexandra C. Evatt and Lauren B. Evatt; brother, Thomas Joseph Evatt (Martha); sister, Grace Helen Cowart (James); and a special friend, Marie Ford.

In addition to his loving wife and parents, he was preceded in death by brother, Billy S. Evatt and sister, Sarah A. Evatt.

A visitation will be held Saturday, January 22, 2022 from 12:00 p.m. until 1:15 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Homes, Northwest, with the funeral service to follow at 1:30 p.m. in the Northwest Chapel. Burial will be held at Graceland Cemetery West.

Brad and Family: Tess and I are so sorry to read about your loss. As I tell people about my folks, he's gone upstairs to live with Jesus. Hope your mom was there to greet him. He was a good man, who raised a good son. Glad you and the family got quality time with him throughout his life, especially these last years. Your family is richer for it.

Marie and Lee's Family, so very sorry for your loss. We enjoyed getting to know Lee whenever he accompanied Marie at her Palmetto High School Class Reunions. We extend our sympathies to each of you!

Prayers for you, Perry, and your whole family. Ardeth & I loved Henry and always enjoyed running into him in Powdersville, as I did just a couple of weeks ago.

Deepest sympathy to Mr. Henry's family. It was always a pleasure to spend time with him while Perry was at Shiloh UMC & then afterwards when we would run into him at various places around Powdersville. Prayers for the family during this sad time.
