Henry Jesse Orr

Henry Jesse Orr, 87, of 214 McDaniel Ave., died February 19, 2007. Born in Walhalla, he was the son of the late Sam and Mamie Couch Orr and widower of Mary Theresa Sarkis Orr. Mr. Orr was retired after 35 years of service in the U.S. Army and served in World War II. He formerly owned and operated a food store and Orr?s Package Store and was a member of Wrenn Memorial Baptist Church. He was a Scottish Rite Mason and a member of the Hejaz Temple of the Shrine. Surviving are two daughters, Rebecca Orr Ginn and her husband Roger of Greenville, and Carolyn ?Cookie? Bayne and her husband Jimmy of Travelers Rest, a son, Henry J. Orr, Jr., and his wife Stacey of Greenville; a sister, Marie O. Morris of Florida; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Memorials may be made to Shriners Hospital for Children, 950 W Faris Rd., Greenville, SC 29605. Visitation will be held from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown. Funeral Services will be held at Wrenn Memorial Baptist Church on Thursday at 10:30 a.m. with burial at Woodlawn Memorial Park.
