Henry David Watson, of East Blue Ridge Drive, died Monday, August 20, 2007. Born in Greenville County on January 13, 1916, he was the son of the late Thomas I. and Ollie Jenkins Watson. Mr. Watson retired from J.C. Penney Co. as Advertising and Display Manager. He served in the Army as a pilot in the Pacific during WWII. He was a member of Fourth Presbyterian Church, where he was the oldest living officer of the church, serving as a Sunday School Teacher, Deacon and Elder. Surviving are his beloved wife of 63 years, Marie Turner Watson; a son, Clyde Turner Watson and his wife, Frankie; a granddaughter, Julie Watson; a sister, Helen Carter; and a brother, Adger Watson, all of Greenville. He was preceded in death by a son, Henry David Watson, Jr.; five sisters, Lucille Brown. Ruby Ford, Gladys Willis, Dorothy Turner, Bea Shockley; and a brother, Clyde Watson. Memorials may be made to Fourth Presbyterian Church Youth Groups, 703 E. Washington Street, Greenville, SC 29601. A committal service will be held Wednesday, August 22, 2007 at 1:30 p.m. in Woodlawn Memorial Park with services following at 2:00 p.m. at Fourth Presbyterian Church. The family will receive friends following at the church.

My dad and HD worked at Penneys along time together and that will be my best memories of him. I remember when I was little he put me in the window of the Penney store and let me watch the Christmas parade so I wouldn't get cold. He was a wonderful man.
