Hettie Childress Hindman

March 1, 1929 - January 30, 2008
Hettie Lou Childress Hindman, 78, formerly of 516 S. Fishtrap Road, went home to be with the Lord Tuesday, January 29, 2008. Born in Pickens County, she was a daughter of the late Clayton Monroe and Annie Mae Jones Childress. Mrs. Hindman retired from Swirl, Inc. and was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church. Surviving is her husband, James R. Hindman; two daughters, Sandra Willis and her husband, Troy, of Travelers Rest and Cheryl Bass of Columbia, SC; two sons, Tommy Griffin and his wife, Jackie, of Powdersville and Phillip Griffin and his wife, Joyce, of Greenville; a sister; Margaret Nicholson of Easley; seven grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her first husband, Thomas L. Griffin; a daughter, Diane Day; three sisters, Bobbie Jean Gilstrap, Mildred Nations, Marion Smith. Vistation will be held at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Northwest, on Thursday, January 31, 2008 from 6:30 pm until 8:00 pm . The funeral service will be Friday, February 1, 2008 at Tabernacle Baptist Church at 10:30 am. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Tabernacle Children's Home, 3931 White Horse Road, Greenville, SC 29611 or Hospice of the Upstate, 1835 Rogers Road, Anderson, SC 29621. The family would like to thank the Staff of Oakmont Nursing Center, West for their love and care of their mother. The family will be at the home of the son, Phillip Griffin, 208 S. Fishtrap Road, Greenville.
