Horace Lee Massey, 93, was born on June 10, 1929 in Liberty, SC to the late Hubert Lee and Carrie Wilson Massey. He laid down his working tools and passed to the next life on January 19, 2023. He was a 1946 graduate of Parker High School and worked his entire career in the textile industry in Greenville, SC until his retirement in 1994. He was baptized at Buncombe Road Baptist Church where he taught Sunday school and was most recently an active member of Parisview Baptist Church. He was a lifetime member of the Sam Poe Lodge. Horace was most known for his sense of humor, ability to fix most anything, and an amazing steadfastness.
Horace was preceded in death by his parents along with two brothers and six sisters. He is survived by his wife, Sylvene Cooley Massey of Greenville, son Glen (Shaele) of Indianapolis, stepdaughter Cheryl Plumier (Al) of Greenville, and sons from a first marriage, Gary of Brevard, NC, and Dale of Winchester, VA. He has 4 grandchildren, Jason Plumier (Christine), Anna Katherine, Wilson and Benjamin Massey; and 2 great grandchildren, Madison and McKenzie Plumier.

A visitation will be held on Monday, January 23, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:15 a.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Homes, Northwest, with the funeral service to follow at 11:30 a.m. in the Northwest Chapel. A graveside service will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park with Rev. Chuck Emory and Rev. Glen Massey officiating.
