Hubert Carl Burton, Sr

October 4, 1918 - February 21, 2006
Hubert Carl Burton, Sr., 87, of 404 E. Hillcrest Drive, husband of Frances Coleman Burton, died Tuesday, February 21, 2006 at St. Francis Hospital, Downtown. Born in Greenville County, he was the son of the late William Harper and Caroline Mills Burton. Mr. Burton was retired from the Greenville News and was a member of Pendleton Street Baptist Church where he taught Sunday School. He was also a United States Air Force Veteran having served during WWII. Surviving in addition to his wife of 52 years are a son, Dr. H. Carl Burton, Jr. and his wife Lisa of Greenville; three granddaughters, Carly, Anna Kathryn, and Virginia Burton; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by three sisters and four brothers. Hugh was a devoted husband, loving father, and grandfather and touched the lives of all who knew him. Funeral services will be conducted Friday, February 24, 2006 at 1:30 PM at Pendleton Street Baptist Church. Visitation will be held prior to the services from 12:00 until 1:15 PM at the church. Burial will be in Simpsonville City Cemetery.
