Ina B. Casale, former long-time resident of Wilmington, Delaware, passed away on Wednesday, April 13, 2022.
As the daughter of an Army Officer, Ina spent many childhood years living in Western states as well as Pennsylvania, Maryland, Louisiana, and New Jersey. After graduation from high school, she matriculated at Drexel University. Ina was fortunate to be among the first group of women allowed to enter the Engineering school. During her five year “co-op” program, Ina worked at various labs at DuPont’s Chambers Works. In January of 1951, Ina was hired by DuPont and assigned to the Engineering Laboratory at the Experimental Station in Wilmington, Delaware where she spent 34 great years until her retirement in 1985.
During her years in Wilmington, Ina enjoyed many of the off-site activities offered by DuPont and Wilmington. These included hiking, biking, golfing, and boating. She also traveled extensively in the United States from coast to coast as well as Nova Scotia, Bermuda, and Vancouver Island.
Ina is survived by her sister, Jane Rumney of Greenville, South Carolina; two nephews, David (Rhonda) and Keith( Dawn); three nieces; three great-nephews; and one great-niece.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Col and Mrs. Charles E. Casale; her brother, Charles J. Casale; and her beloved Edgar Slocum.
