Irene Smith Jones

June 18, 1917 - February 23, 2007
Irene Smith Jones, 89, wife of Clarence B. Jones, died Friday, February 23, 2007 at Laurel Baye Health Care. Born in Atlanta, GA., she was the daughter of the late Heyward and Nora Tumlin Smith. Mrs. Jones was a homemaker and a member of Piedmont Park Baptist Church where she was in the Willing Workers Sunday School class. She was also a member of the Taylors Order of the Eastern Star and the Piedmont Park Community Club. Surviving, in addition to her husband of 69 years, are two daughters and sons-in-law, Shirley and Joe Lark of Inman, Rhonda and David Vaughn of Taylors; a son and daughter-in-law, Reverend Michael and Kim Jones of Chatham, VA.; seven grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; a sister, Frances Hand of Greenville; and a brother, Homer Smith of Greenville. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Gladys Howell and Evelyn Black; and a brother, Dr. H. M. Smith. Memorials may be made to Southern Care Hospice, 1097 Highway 101 South, Suite D-11, Greer, SC 29651 or Piedmont Park Baptist Church, 801 Piedmont Park Road, Greenville, SC 29609. Funeral services will be held Sunday, February 25, 2007 at 3:00 p.m. at Piedmont Park Baptist Church. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 1:30 p.m. until 2:45 p.m. at the church. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Park. The family will be at the home.
