Iris Watts Brunker

October 25, 1922 - March 15, 2008
Our dearest mother, Iris Watts Brunker, of 43 Swanson Court, preceded in death by her loving husband Harold C. Brunker, died Saturday, March 15, 2008. Born in Greenville, she was the daughter of the late A. Dacus and Docia Vernell Ruppe Watts. She volunteered with St. Francis Hospital for 10 years, was the first female Constable in Greenville County, member of the V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary and the Order of the Eastern Star. She was also a civilian employee of the U.S. Government Signal Corp during WWII. Surviving are three daughters, Deborah B. DeBord of LaMonte, MO, Cynthia A. Brunker of Greenville and Gretchen B. Elrod of Williamston; a sister, Virginia Hollingsworth of Greenville; four grandsons and three great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a sister, Blanche "Tommie" Moon. Visitation will be held Thursday, March 20, 2008 from 12:00 p.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown. A graveside service will follow at 1:30 p.m. at Woodlawn Memorial Park.
