James Arthur Guy, Sr., 86, of 115 Salem Court, died on Wednesday, December 28, 2005. Born in Spartanburg County, he was a son of the late Sam and Sally Gray Guy. Mr. Guy served in the U.S. Navy during WWII in the North Atlantic and African Campaigns. He retired from Dan River Mills and was a member of Park Hill First Church of God. He was a master mason of Lodge #362; a lifetime member of the Montgomery Lodge; and a member of the S.C. Fastpitch Softball Hall of Fame. Surviving are his wife of sixty-one years, Katherine Barker Guy, of the home; a daughter, Carol G. Drake and husband John, of Greenville; a son, James A. Guy, Jr. and wife Evelyn, of Owings; a sister, Cora G. Watkins and husband Ted, of Crosby, Texas; a brother, Frank Major Guy, of Spartanburg; nine grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Friday from 6:30 ? 8:00 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Northwest. Services will be held on Saturday at 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Graceland East Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to St. Francis Hospital, 1 St. Francis Drive, Greenville, SC 29601. The family is at 23 Broadway Drive.
