James Claude Grubbs, Jr., 97, husband of the late Dorothy Grubbs, died Friday, October 29, 2021 at Richard Campbell Veterans Nursing Home.
Born in Spartanburg, he was the son of the late James and Myrtle Revelle Grubbs.
Mr Grubbs was World War II veteran of the United States Navy. After retiring from the Navy as Chief Petty Officer, Bosun’s Mate, he was a salesman until retirement. He a member of Daybreak Community Church.
He is survived by children, Jay Grubbs and his wife, Pam, and Karen Polsinelli; four grandchildren, Christopher Grubbs, Carly Grubbs, Benjamin Grubbs, and Sarah Grubbs; two great-grandchildren, Wesley Grubbs, and Maddie Grubbs.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a son, Randy Grubbs; sister, Helen Blackwell; and son-in-law, Gerald Polsinelli.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, November 9, 2021 from 10:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Homes. Downtown. The funeral will be at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel. Burial will follow in M.J.”Dolly” Cooper Veterans Cemetery.
