James D. Ashmore

James D. Ashmore, 84, of 2006 Pelham Rd, died on Tuesday, October 10, 2006. Born in Greenville, he was a son of the late Patrick Ashmore and Mary Elizabeth Black Ashmore. He was a faithful father, husband, and friend but foremost a faithful servant of God. Mr. Ashmore was a 1940 graduate of the former National Junior Order of Tiffin, OH and a veteran of WWII where he served in the US Army Air Corps. He retired from AT&T Telephone Company after 42 years of service. He was an active member of the Sans Souci Baptist Church. Surviving are his wife Annie Ruth Heath Ashmore, of Mauldin; a daughter, Candace Hayes and her husband Wayne, of Gastonia, NC; a grandson, Phillip Hayes and wife Jennifer, of Silver Springs, MD; one granddaughter, Alyson Daves and husband Matthew, of Holly Springs, NC; one great granddaughter, Elizabeth Ashmore Daves, of Holly Springs, NC; a sister, Frances Fair, of TN; and a brother, Bill Ashmore, of GA. There will be a viewing for the public at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Northwest today from 9:00 am -12:00 Noon. Graveside services will be held at Graceland Cemetery, West on Thursday, at 1:30 pm with visitation from 12:45-1:30 pm prior to the service at the cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Alzheimer?s Assoc. of Greenville, 301 University Ridge Suite 5000, Greenville, SC 29601. The family is at their respective homes and will be at Sans Souci Baptist Church following the service.
