James Dennis Stoddard, Jr., 89, of 103 Havenhurst Drive, died Monday, January 15, 2007 at Greenville Memorial Medical Center. Born in Fountain Inn, he was a son of the late James Dennis Stoddard, Sr. and Nannie Burdette Stoddard. Mr. Stoddard retired from Milliken and Company, Judson Plant, after 35 years of service and was a member of Lee Road Baptist Church. He was also a member of Dunean Baptist Church for many years. Surviving, are his wife of 67 years, Ruth McGee Stoddard; a son and daughter-in-law, James ?Butch? and Adele Stoddard of Greenville; three grandchildren, Jimmy Stoddard and his wife Karen of Taylors, Bobby Stoddard and his wife Kim of Taylors, Kelly Johnson and her husband Chris of Greenville; ten great grandchildren, Trey, Scott, Brandon, Seth, Anslee, Michael, and Nicholas Stoddard, Grace Anne, Macy and Isabella Johnson; four sisters, Carrie Gault, of Simpsonville, Anne Smith of Gray Court, Katie Hill of Greenville and Billie Adair of Fountain Inn; and a brother, Wilt Stoddard of Laurens. He was preceded in death by a great granddaughter, Hope Adele Johnson. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Lee Road Baptist Church, 1503 East Lee Road, Taylors, SC 29687 or Meals on Wheels, 15 Oregon Street, Greenville, SC 29605. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, January 17, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown. Visitation will be held prior to the services from 1:00 p.m. until 1:45 p.m. Burial will be held in Graceland Cemetery, West. The family wishes to express heartfelt thanks to the staff of Greenville Memorial Medical Center Emergency Trauma Center and Unit 4C for their care and compassion.
