James E. Baldwin, 89, of 109 Lanier Lane, Mauldin, husband of Eunice McDonald Baldwin passed away Tuesday, March 21, 2006 at Hillcrest Medical Center. Born in Easley on July 8, 1916, he was the son of the late Oscar Dee Baldwin and Mabel Hudson Baldwin. Mr. Baldwin was a graduate of The John de la Howe School, Class of 1934, where he was Valedictorian, and he attended Auburn University. He was a World War II veteran of the US Army, having received battle stars for campaigns in North Africa, Sicily, France and Germany. He served in post war Germany, France, Hawaii, and several posts stateside. Mr. Baldwin retired after 26 years of service. Mr. Baldwin was a long- standing member of Mauldin First Baptist Church. Surviving in addition to his wife of 48 years are a daughter, Geri Baldwin Simpson and her husband, Clifford ?Dub? of Fort Mill; a son, Thomas M. ?Tom? Baldwin of Columbia; a sister, Helen Baldwin Farr of Greenville; four grandchildren, Debbie Walthall Revis, Rusty Walthall, Christi Walthall Wuori, Kati Baldwin; nine great-grandchildren and one great great-grandchild; a number of nieces and nephews. Mr. Baldwin was preceded in death by two sisters, Gladys Barber and Ethel Faulkner. Memorials may be made to John de la Howe School, 192 Gettys Road, McCormick, SC 29835 Services will be held on Friday, March 24, 2006 at 3:00 PM at Mauldin First Baptist Church. Visitation will be prior to the service from 1:30 PM until 2:45 PM. Burial will follow in Greenville Memorial Gardens. The family is at the residence.
