James Elliot Evans

James Elliott Evans, Sr., 80, widower of Lizzie Cleo Evans, died Friday, February 9, 2007 at Brighton Gardens. Born in Newberry, S.C., he was a son of the late John E. and Mary Agnes Dickert Evans. Mr. Evans was a retired textile supervisor and was of the Methodist faith. He was a United States Marine Corps Veteran. Surviving are a son, James Evans, Jr. and his wife Saralyn of Greenville; a grandson, Jay Evans; two sisters, Mollie Taylor of Newberry, S.C., Mae Johnson of Zephyrhills, FL.; and a brother, Herman O. Evans of Cheraw, S.C. He was preceded in death by a sister, Margaret Swygert and a brother, Olin E. Evans. Memorials may be made to Hospice Care of South Carolina, 600 E. Washington Street, Suite 614, Greenville, SC 29601 or Alzheimer?s Association, Upstate SC Chapter, 301 University Ridge, Suite 5000, Greenville, SC 29601. Graveside services will be held Sunday, February 11, 2007 at 3:00 p.m. at Greenville Memorial Gardens.
