James Frank Solas

November 11, 1921 - August 20, 2005
James Frank Solas, 83, of 46 Tilbury Way, Greenville, died August 20, 2005 at St. Francis Hospital, Downtown. Born November 11, 1921 in Augusta, GA, he was the son of the late Frank and Sadie Brewer Solas. Mr. Solas was a 1941 graduate of Greenville High School and a graduate of Clemson Military College. He was a World War II veteran of the US Army serving as a Combat Engineer. Mr. Solas was a project manager with Potter-Shackleford Construction and retired after 25 years of service. He was a member of Northgate Baptist Church and a 50-year member of IPTAY. He is survived by his wife, Joye Greene Solas; three sons, James F. Solas, Jr. and wife Lynn of Simpsonville, Billy Richardson and wife Cathy of Greenville, Steve Richardson and wife Debbie of Greenville; one daughter, Rebecca Solas Hatch and husband Kevin of Mauldin; and seven grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 10:30am at Northgate Baptist Church with visitation prior from 9:15 to 10:15am in the Welcome Sunday School Classroom. Entombment will follow in C.M. Gaffney Memorial Mausoleum at Woodlawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Northgate Baptist Church, 633 Summitt Drive, Greenville, SC 29609. The family is at the residence.
