James L. Evatt

James L. Evatt, 85, of 275 Commonwealth Drive, died on Tuesday, January 30, 2007. Born in Liberty, he was a son of the late Samuel and Izetta McWhorter Evatt and husband of fifty-six years of the late Edna Taylor Evatt. Mr. Evatt served in the U.S. Army and was involved in the Normandy Invasion. He retired from Cone Mills after thirty years of service and was a member of Parisview Baptist Church for sixty years. Surviving are a daughter-in-law, Kay Evatt, of Greenville; a grandson, Jeffrey A. Evatt and wife Amy, of Easley; a great-grandson, Colton James Evatt. Additional relatives include Tina Hester, Keavan Hester, Greg Hester, Robert W. Taylor, Sarah Nell Taylor, Sarah Margaret Willis, Sam Evatt, and Willie Evatt. He was predeceased by a son, Jimmie W. Evatt; a sister and five brothers. Services will be held Friday at 3:00 pm at Parisview Baptist Church with visitation from 1:30 ? 2:45 pm prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at Greenville Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to Parisview Baptist Church, 100 Bud Street, Greenville, SC 29617.
