James Maxwell Garrett, Sr. 78, of Greenville, husband of Terry Garrett, passed away Wednesday, September 22, 2021.

Born in Greer, SC, he was the son of the late Ed and Nell Bridwell Garrett.

James was a member of Inspirational Outreach and loved fishing and watching Gamecock Football. He played guitar in the group Southern Gospel Express.

In addition to his beloved wife, he is survived by sons, Jimmy Garrett (Tammy) and Shane Garrett (Tammy); grandchildren, PJ Strickland (Matt), Hope Harkins (Jamie), Jessica Wilson (Cody), Chase Garrett (Lauren), Haley Black (Cody), Tyler Garrett (Papa’s Little Dude); great grandchildren, Kyra, Brentley, Gracie, Jace, Addy, Tucker, Beckham, and soon to be Savannah James; sisters, Wanda Sanders, Becky Lawless, and Margaret Davis; and a brother, Eddie Garrett.

In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by his sister, Judy Jones.

A visitation will be held Monday, September 27, 2021 from 12:00 p.m. until 1:15 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Homes, Northwest, with the funeral service following at 1:30 p.m. in the Northwest Chapel. Burial will be held in Graceland Cemetery West.
