James Melvin Martin

James Melvin ?Bud? Martin, 72, 510 Motorboat Club Road, died Wednesday, October 17, 2007. Born in Greenville, he was the son of the late James Boyd Martin and Fannie Spears Martin and husband of the late Catherine Sowers ?Kay? Martin. Mr. Martin served in the US Navy and retired from Piedmont Natural Gas after thirty-seven years of service. After retirement, he worked with his son Travis as co-owner of Martin Remodeling & Repair Company. He was a member of Berea First Baptist Church and Judson Lodge #319. Surviving are two sons, Dallas Vance Martin and Travis Cameron Martin, both of the home; a sister, Azalee Carter, of Greenville; a niece, Dianne Cheek, of Greenville; a nephew, Ronnie Carter, of Easley; and a great-niece, Lacey Cheek, of Mauldin. The funeral service will be held Saturday at 1:30 pm at Berea First Baptist Church with visitation from 12 Noon ? 1:15 pm prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at Graceland East Memorial Park. Piedmont Natural Gas employees, BYCOTA Sunday School Class, and members of Judson Masonic Lodge #319 will serve as honorary pallbearers.
