James Oris Hampton

James ?Buck? Hampton, 82, of 6 Taylor Street, husband of Rhunet Scroggs Hampton, died Tuesday, November 20, 2007 at St. Francis Hospital, Downtown. Born in Charlotte, N.C., he was the son of the late James Oris Hampton, Sr. and Mary Elizabeth Finley Hampton. Mr. Hampton was retired from Greenville Memorial Medical Center and a member of Pelham First Baptist Church. He was a Master Sergeant with the United States Marine Corps and was a veteran of WWII. Surviving, in addition to his wife, are a daughter and son-in-law, Kimberly Dawn and Bob McCauley of Greenville; two sons and daughters-in-law, James E. and Christine Hampton of Westminster and Robert Wayne and Cathy Hampton of Simpsonville; five grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Memorials may be made to The Gideons International, PO Box 8481, Greenville, SC 29604, Einstein Learning Center c/o St. Francis Episcopal Church, 506 Edwards Road, Greenville, SC 29615 or Oconee Christian Academy Gym Fund, 150 His Way Circle Seneca, SC 29678. Visitation will be held Saturday, November 24, 2007 from 1:00 p.m. until 2:45 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown. The funeral service will follow at 3:00 p.m. in the downtown chapel. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery, West.
