James ?Jim? Preston Hall, Jr., 73, of 447 Henderson Road, died Saturday, December 15, 2007 at his home. Born in Fayetteville, NC on March 5, 1934, Jim was the husband of Carolyn Whitworth Hall and the son of the late James Preston and Annie Cameron Hall. He was a graduate of Fayetteville High School. He received a football scholarship to Wake Forest University where he earned his degree in Business and was in the Letterman?s Club. Jim loved his Demon Deacons! Jim was a 1st Lieutenant in the U.S. Army, and later was employed by ADM as a Sales Manager for the Southern Division. He was a member of John Knox Presbyterian Church and the Onesimus Sunday School Class. He was an Elder and Deacon, taught Sunday School, and coached in the church basketball program. Jim was also a member of the Greenville Country Club, Greenville Touchdown Club, Greenville Basketball Club, an Officer and Official of Greenville SAIL, and was a YMCA Football Coach. He was an avid golfer and accomplished musician, and loved to play the piano for family and friends. In addition to his loving wife, he is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Mary Carolyn and David Loring Titus of Charlotte, NC; two sons, Robert Durant Thornton-Hall and his wife, Lisa Simmons Hall of Greenville, and James Hunt Thornton-Hall and his wife, June League Hall of Birmingham, AL; six grandchildren, Elizabeth Parker Hall, Robert Preston Hall, James Whitmore Titus, Carolyn Hall Titus, Isabella Grace Hall, and Lillian Janis Hall; a brother-in-law, Don Whitworth and his wife, LeeAnne of Raleigh, NC; and several nieces and nephews. Jim loved life and his church, and was dedicated to his wife, children and grandchildren. He will be missed by all. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 18, 2007 at John Knox Presbyterian Church. Visitation will be held from 6:30 until 8:30 p.m. on Monday, December 17, 2007 at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown. Burial will be at Woodlawn Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to the Brotherhood Fund of John Knox Presbyterian Church, 35 Shannon Drive, Greenville, SC 29615.
