James Theodore “Ted” Scivedge, 81, beloved husband of Joan Scivedge, passed away on Sunday, February 4, 2024.
Born in Marietta, SC, he was the son of the late Harvey and Kathleen Cox Scivedge.
Raised in the beautiful mountains of South Carolina, Ted developed a deep curiosity for the sciences. Throughout his life, he found joy in experimenting in the world around him. This led to an interest in automobiles and motorcycles, which progressed into him becoming a self-taught mechanic. Ted also loved motorsports. Whether riding his motorcycle or watching a NASCAR event, he found thrills in the world of adrenaline and speed. Dogs also held a special place in his heart.
Ted shared a beautiful 56 years with the love of his life, Joan, whose unwavering love and support were the pillars of their enduring marriage.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, James Theodore Scivedge, Jr.; and his sister, Helen Poole. His presence will be deeply missed by his family and friends, who will hold onto treasured memories of his warm smile and inquisitive mind.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Ann Lydia, and Betty Fuller; a brother, James Leroy Scivedge; and brother-in-law, Bobby Poole.
A visitation will be held Thursday, February 08, 2024, from 6:00 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Homes, Northwest. The Funeral Service will be Friday, February 9, 2024, at 12:00 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Homes, Northwest. Burial will be held in Graceland Cemetery West.
