James Thomas O'Connor

James Thomas "O.C." O'Connor, 75, of 248 Jim Hunt Road, died Thursday, January 17, 2008. Born in Auburn, NY, he was the son of the late Edward L. O'Connor and Amy Spearing O'Connor. Mr. O'Connor retired from the US Air Force after twenty-two years. He served during the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #1668 where he was past Grand Knight and past Faithful Navigator. Mr. O'Connor was owner of O'Connor & Sons Fence Company. Surviving are his wife, Eleanor Rebecca Swaynghame O'Connor, of the home; six daughters, Hilde Burgin of Travelers Rest, Mary Helen O'Connor of Asheville, NC, Debra Kay O'Connor of Inman, Amy O'Connor of Asheville, NC, Patricia Head of Greenville, Anna Marie Knighton of Wellford, four sons, Patrick James O'Connor of Blytheville, Edward Lester O'Connor of Easley, Alton Swaynghame of Piedmont, and David Swaynghame of Greer; four sisters, Patricia Costello of Auburn, NY, Helen Clingerman of Seneca Falls, NY, Virginia Monroe of Auburn, NY, and Kathleen Davis of Vifalia, CA; twenty-five grandchildren and thirty great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Virginia Ruth Hudson O'Connor. The funeral service will be held Monday, January 21, 2008 at 6:00 pm at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Northwest with visitation from 4:30 – 5:45 pm prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to St. Anthony's Catholic Church, 204 Douthit St., Greenville, SC, 29601. The family is at the residence.
