Janie Burleson Sickinger, 76, devoted wife of 45 years to the late Richard “Dick” Sickinger, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, June 28, 2022.
Born in Albemarle, NC, she was a daughter of the late Charles Spurgeon and Zula Harkey Burleson.
She married the love of her life, Richard “Dick” Sickinger in 1970. They had the opportunity to live in many different areas of the country, permanently settling in Greenville thirty-nine years ago. Janie was an avid tennis player and made many friends playing in local leagues. One of her other interests was bridge and she was a very keen player and was a member of several bridge groups. She loved to travel, and was fortunate to be able to visit so many places both domestically and abroad with her family.
Janie was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church. She was the school secretary at Christ Church for many years.
She was the most amazing daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother (“Mimi”), aunt, cousin, and friend.
Her memory will continue on with her two wonderful children, David Martin Sickinger and wife, Lauren, and Katherine “Kathy” S. Sessions and husband, Rob; three precious grandchildren, Jackson and Emma Sessions, and Charles “Charlie” Sickinger; her loving sister, Sally Martin and husband, Bob.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Richard.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 23, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at Westminster Presbyterian Church, with the visitation to follow until 12:30 p.m. in the church atrium.
