Janie Pearl Long

Janie Pearl Green Long, 96, widow of Rome Long, died Friday, March 28, 2008. Born in Greenville County, she was the daughter of the late Lee and Lily Jones Green. Mrs. Long was a member of Piedmont Park Baptist Church. Surviving are two sons, Leroy Long and his wife, Anne, Tommy Long and his wife, Mary; four daughters, Shirley Long Chandler and her husband, Martin, Dorothy Long Chitwood and her husband, Gene, Linda Long Duncan and her husband, Joe, Marie Long Williams and her husband, Jerry; a sister, Lucile Hinson; a brother, Manly Green; twenty one grandchildren; forty six great grandchildren; and eight great great grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Louis Henry Long; a granddaughter, Janet Long Stapleton; a grandson, Jack Long; a sister, Mamie Hall; and a brother, Henry Green. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother, and was loved by all who knew her and will be truly missed. Visitation will be held Monday, March 31, 2008 from 1:30 p.m. until 2:45 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown. The funeral service will follow at 3:00 p.m. in the downtown chapel. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Park. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. The family will be at the home of, Susan and Johnny Cash, 11 Overlook Court, Greenville.
