Jean Chiles Attaway

March 16, 1925 - October 6, 2008
Jean Chiles Attaway, 83, wife of Dwight Boggs Attaway, died Monday, October 6, 2008 at Pendleton Manor. Born in Greenville, she was a daughter of the late John Weldon and Lucy Hicks Chiles. Mrs. Attaway was a homemaker, mother and member of Northside United Methodist Church. Surviving, in addition to her husband of 67 years, are four daughters and sons-in-law, Norma A. and John McAlhany of Greenwood, Sandra A. and Norman Culbertson of Rock Hill, Cynthia A. and Bill Howard of Greenville, Jane A. and Mont Alexander of Columbia; a sister, Norma C. Cornish; twelve grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Johnny Chiles. Memorials may be made to Northside United Methodist Church, 435 Summit Drive, Greenville, SC 29609 or the Alzheimer's Association, Upstate SC Chapter, 301 University Ridge, Suite 5000, Greenville, SC 29601. Visitation will be held Wednesday, October 8, 2008 from 1:30 p.m. until 2:45 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown. The funeral service will follow at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel. Burial will be Springwood Cemetery. The family will be at 23 Lake Forest Drive.
