Jean Dixon Hughes, 72, of 212 Robin Lane, Swansgate Community, departed her earthly life on Monday, February 4, 2008, to celebrate eternity with God.
Born in Greenville County she was the daughter of the late Carl E. and Joy Carroll Dixon.
Mrs. Hughes retired as the secretary to the plant manager of JPS Textile Group, Dunean Plant, after forty years of service. She was a graduate of Parker High School and attended Mars Hill College and Draughons Business College, and a faithful member of Dunean Baptist Church.
Surviving is her loving husband of fifty years, Robert A. "Shag" Hughes; a daughter, Karen J. Hughes and her husband, Michael Roebuck, of Brooklyn, NY; sister, Dotsy Dixon of Greenville; brother, Jimmy Dixon of Hilton Head; and granddaughter, Carter Joy Roebuck of Brooklyn, NY.
She was predeceased by a son, Curtis Robert Hughes.
Visitation will be Wednesday, February 6, 2008 from 5:30 pm to 7:00 pm at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Northwest.
The funeral service will be held at Dunean Baptist Church Thursday, February 7, 2008 at 10:30 am.
Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Park.
The Myra Parks Sunday School Class and the Deacons of Dunean Baptist Church will serve as honorary pallbearers. The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and respiratory therapists on the 4th floor of the Heart Institute of Greenville Memorial Hospital for their thoughtful and compassionate care.
