Jeannine Ida Melanson Labbie, 79, widow of Julien Labbie, died Wednesday, March 26, 2008 at McCall Hospice House Born in Lewiston, ME, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Margaret Lachance Melanson. Mrs. Labbie was a homemaker and member of St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church and enjoyed time spent with friends playing Mahjong, Canasta, and Bunko. Surviving are six children, Peggy Ann Flagg and her husband, Robert, of Guam, Christine Lawson of Simpsonville, Kathie Cronebach of Ohio, Lisa Taitano and her husband, John, of Guam, Thomas Labbie of Clayton, GA, and John Labbie and his wife, Wendi, of California; thirteen grandchildren, Laura McClung, Crystal Fowler, John Sayre, Brandon Lawson, Gina Stevens, Zachary Cronebach, Rachel Cronebach, John Taitano, Megan Taitano, David Labbie, Jenna Labbie, Matthew Labbie and Mitchell Labbie; a brother, Reginald Melanson and a sister, Priscilla Gendron. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by a grandson, Timothy Labbie; two sisters, Anna Rose Carrier and Rita Letourneau and two brothers, Nelson and Arthur Melanson. Visitation will be held Friday, March 28, 2008 from 7:00 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown. The funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday, March 29, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church. Burial will be in Florence National Cemetery. The family would like to give a very special thanks to all her friends and neighbors for their loving support.

It is with regret that I learned of the passing of Mrs Labbie. I fondly remember the times I spent with the Labbies. Mrs Labbie was so kind and loving always made me feel at home. My thought and prayers are with her family.
