Jeffrey E. Kirwin, formerly of Deerfield Beach, Florida and current resident of Simpsonville, South Carolina, passed away on April 15, 2021 at the age of 67.

Jeff was born in Miami, Florida to John William Kirwin “Chief” and Marilyn Anderson Kirwin. He is survived by his son, Jonathan Andrew Kirwin; his son’s mother, Sherry DuBose; his brother, John Hollis Kirwin and wife, Jo; his nephew, Kyle Kirwin; and his niece, Kristin Jenkins and husband, Keith.

Jeff had a rewarding football career at Western Carolina University where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree. Throughout his life, he continued to be a proud supporter of the Catamounts and enjoyed lifelong friendships with many of his teammates.

After 40 years of service, Jeff retired from his very successful career as a sales manager with BellSouth (AT&T). He loved to lead meetings with a humorous anecdote and will always be remembered for his storytelling.

Jeff was a caring brother, a loyal and dependable friend, and a thoughtful and loving father to his son. He was happiest when he was spending time with Jonathan either fishing, golfing, playing the guitar, or enjoying one of their daily conversations, and he never missed a holiday, birthday party, piano recital, or sporting event.

Jeff will be remembered for his outgoing personality, his dedication to his family, friends, and career and his undying love for his son. He was dearly loved and will be deeply missed.

A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, May 1, 2021 at 1:30 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Homes, Southeast.

In lieu of flowers donations may be sent to the Prostate Cancer Foundation in memory of Jeffrey E. Kirwin by visiting www.pcf.org.

Jeff will always have a special place in my heart...great friend.

Jeff (aka; The Mann’s) my friend, roommate, teammate and part of my wedding party is surely missed. Jeff and I spend a lot of time together during our college years as roommates, teammate and driving partner going back and forth from Miami to WCU. It was always a pleasure spending time with his Mom and Dad (Chief) and brother John at their home in North Miami, in fact I still drive by their neighborhood often today going to friends house. Driving by the Kirwin neighborhood always brings back fond memories of the Mann’s and family. Jeff can now BS with the Chief and his wonderful mother Marilyn whom he loved and cherished. His son Johnathan was the twinkle in his eye. Jeff spoke of him with love and affection, he was extremely proud of Johnathan from childhood to manhood. The “Mann’s” will be always be a teammate, roommate and friend to me and someone I will never forget.

My deepest condolences to the family. I spent many a day with my cousins John and Jeff when I was much, much, younger on our family vacations to Miami. Even though I was the younger cousin they included me in all kinds of things when I came down. I remember learning how to shoot a 22 pistol with John and Jeff and a few boxing matches in the back yard ( with gloves of course ), as well as my first experience scuba diving in a pool. So sorry to hear of Jeff’s death. He was “the man” at North Miami Senior High and everyone loved him. Sending deepest sympathy.
