It was a summer day in 1980 and Jessie and I were out for a drive through the country around Seneca SC when we came upon a bad wreck.  A pick up truck had collided with a VW Bug head on and there were people on the ground bleeding and injured. Several people standing around gawking at a mother, 12 year old son and a middle aged man with broken bones and cuts.  I pulled to a stop and Jessie got out and calmly walked up to the scene looking around and then she started giving orders directing people into action.  In one swift move she yanked the T shirt off a teenager and proceeded to tear it into strips for bandages then cutting the sleeves off her own blouse she fashioned a sling for the mother and made a bandage for the head of the driver of the truck.  When the ambulance arrived she walked over and gave instructions to the paramedics then she got back into the car blood spattered, blouse in tatters, reached into the back seat grabbed a beer, looked at me and said we're done here let's go.  Dear Lord she was magnificent.

I am saddened & shocked.  Jessie was my "little sister" in nursing school.  She & I went to apply for Air Force Reserves together but I didn't sign up.  I am beyond words @ this moment.

Jessie was a dear friend and taught me so much when I was a young nurse. I will miss our talks and her words of wisdom.

Condolences to Jessie's family from The Greenville General Hospital School of Nursing Alumnae Association.  Jessie was loved by all during her days as a student nurse and as she worked at Greenville General Hospital.  She will be greatly missed. It is sad to see that we have lost another of our graduates.

Jessie will be greatly missed. She was a part of my life for almost twenty years. I used to call her my "third" mom.  You will be greatly missed Jessie!  Know that you were loved.
Peace of mind is a call away. We’re here when you need us most.

It was such an enjoyable time with Jessie, little Jake, and the beach this past summer of 2018. She was very knowledgeable and compassionate as a registered nurse.  She would go the second and third mile for her patients. She will be greatly missed by all the persons whose lives she has touched.  With her strong faith,I am certain that her body is whole, and that she is resting with our Jesus. My sincere condolences to all who are touched by her passing
