Jewell Earline Garner Merritt

Jewell Earline Garner Merritt, 90, of 100 Windtree Lane, widow of Elbert L. Merritt, died Monday, October 31, 2005 at her residence. Born in Toccoa, GA., she was the daughter of the late Jesse T. and Sally Brown Garner. Mrs. Merritt was retired from JP Stevens as well as several Soda Shops and Café?s in the area. She was a member of Southside Assembly of God. Surviving are three daughters and sons-in-law, Patricia and Al Rawlinson of Mt. Pleasant, Jewell and Jimmy Hall of Greenville, Joan Jones of Piedmont; a son-in-law, George Willis of Marietta; seventeen grandchildren, thirty three great-grandchildren, and fourteen great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter; Floyce Willis, sisters, Ernestine Roberts, Mary Harris, Helen Parham; a brother, Furman Garner; and two great grandsons, Thomas Case Parker and Timothy James Garland. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer?s Association, Upstate SC Chapter, 114 E. Earle Street, Anderson, SC 29621 or to Interim Hospice, 775 Spartanburg Blvd., Suite 101, Spartanburg, SC 29301. Visitation will be held Wednesday, November 02, 2005 from 7:00 until 8:30 PM at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown. Funeral services will be held Thursday, November 03, 2005 at 3:00 PM at Travelers Rest Church of God. Burial will follow in Greenville Memorial Gardens. Active pallbearers will be John Willis, Kevin Johnson, David Hall, Jimmy Hall, Jody Parker, and Michael Osborne. The family will be at the home of Joan Jones, 100 Windtree Lane, Piedmont.
