Jimmie Cothran Ross

Jimmie ?PaPa? Cothran Ross, 75, of 105 Oates Avenue, died May 20, 2004 at Richard Campbell Nursing Home. Born in Asheville, NC, he was a son of the late Charles W. and Essie Cothran Ross. He was a Corporal in the US Army Corp of Engineers during the Korean War. Before his retirement, he was employed with Spartan Construction. Mr. Ross lived most of his life in Greenville and was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He enjoyed being with his family and was a proud PaPa of all his grandchildren. He will be missed dearly by all. Surviving are his wife, Bertha Ross of the home; a daughter, Theresa Dowling of Taylors and her fiancee?, Denny Shaffer of Anderson; one son and daughter-in-law, Don and Dawn Ross of Easley; three step-daughters and step-sons-in-law, Judy and Dick Lamar of Simpsonville, Brenda and Bill Lancaster of Lexington, NC, Mary Jane and Rex Leatherwood of Sevierville, TN; two stepsons, Waymon H. Palmer of Greenville, Charles and Mary Ann Palmer of Simpsonville; three sisters, Mrs. Eloise Adams of Greer, Mrs. Juanita Thompson and Mrs. Barbara Fowler of Greenville; two brothers, Charles Ross of Greer and Kenneth W. Ross of Shelby, NC; 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer?s Association, 301 University Ridge, Suite 5000, Greenville, SC 29601. Visitation will be held from 6:00 until 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home chapel with burial in Woodlawn Memorial Park. The family is at the residence.
