Jimmy Cleveland Cox, 83, beloved husband of Lou Anne Cox, passed away on Wednesday March 20, 2024.
Born in Greenville, SC, he was the son of the late Clifford and Etolia Hightower Cox.
Jimmy proudly served his country as a Marine, embodying the values of honor, courage, and commitment. His service was a reflection of his deep patriotism and sense of duty.
A graduate of Parker High School, Jimmy’s passion for sports shone brightly as he along with his basketball team led the school to victory in the state championship. His athletic prowess extended to the gridiron, where he played semi-professional football for the Greenville Mountaineers.
A lifelong member of Northgate Baptist Church, Jimmy’s faith was the cornerstone of his life. He found his strength in his spiritual community, and his presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him there.
Jimmy was a lifelong member of the Paris Mountain Country Club, where he found joy in and beauty in the game. His presence enriched the club and left an enduring legacy of friendship and fellowship.
In his community, Jimmy was a pillar of support and leadership, serving as President of the Wade Hampton Cherokees youth baseball and football organization. His dedication to nurturing young athletes and providing opportunities for their growth and development was unmatched.
Professionally, Jimmy co-owned and operated A Plus Signs and Lighting with his son, Cleve. Together, they built a thriving business founded on strong work ethics and family values.
Jimmy will be remembered as a great man of unwavering principles, whose kindness, generosity, and strength of character touched the lives of many. His legacy of love and devotion to family, community, and country will endure for generations to come.
In addition to his loving wife, he is survived by sons, Cleve Cox, Bennett Cox (Karin), and James Bailey Cox; and four grandchildren.
