Joe Stanley

August 30, 1929 - March 26, 2006
Joe Stanley, Retired US Army MSG, passed away, March 26, 2006. Mr. Stanley was born in Elizabethton, TN and was the son of the late Charles and Nancy Stanley. He was retired from the United States Army and from the State Department of Corrections. He received many commendations from governments of several countries and served as Advisor during the Vietnam War. He moved to Greenville in 1959 and set-up the Military Apprehension Office. He was a 32nd Degree Mason and Shriner. He also served as State Constable. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Lee Stanley. Surviving are his current wife, Nancy Stanley and their children, Courtney and Tyler of the home. Also surviving are his children, Charlotte Ford, Joe, Jr. ?Buddy?, Charlene Clement, Ernie, Marsha Williford, and Charlie. A memorial service will be conducted Tuesday, March 28, 2006 at 12:00 noon in the chapel of Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown.
