John Arthur Goettsche

John Arthur Goettsche, 78, of 4 Creekside Way, husband of Judy Schlasner Goettsche, died Tuesday, February 5, 2008 at Allen Bennett Hospital. Born in Omaha, NE., he was the son of the late Arthur John and Lorraine Virginia Whitney Goettsche. Mr. Goettsche was retired from Heidelberg USA and was a member of Prince of Peace Catholic Church. He was a United States Navy veteran. Surviving, in addition to his wife, are a daughter, Debra Goettsche; four sons, Thomas Goettsche and his wife, Kathy, Jeffrey Holby and his wife, Dianne, Jerry Holby and Norman Holby; eight grandchildren and one great grandchild. Memorials may be made to the Patient Welfare Fund c/o Dorn VA Medical Center, 6439 Garners Ferry Road, Columbia, SC 29209, in memory of John A. Goettsche. Visitation will be held Friday, February 8, 2008 from 9:30 a.m. until 10:15 a.m. with the funeral service to follow at 10:30 a.m. in the chapel of Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown. Burial will be in M.J. Dolly Cooper Veterans Cemetery.
