John Clyde Mizell

John Clyde Mizell, 93, died on Tuesday, December 11, 2007. Born in Simpson, IL, he was the son of the late Walter E. and Ellen J. Curley Mizell and the husband of the late Ione Thompson Mizell. Mr. Mizell was a retired rural mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service and a member of Hampton Park Baptist Church. He served in the U. S. Navy during World War II. Surviving are three sons and daughters-in-law, Bruce and Lise Mizell of Greenville, Brent and Sharon Mizell of Birmingham, AL, and Clark and Katherine Mizell of Gray Court; eight grandchildren, Jessica Franseen of Greenville, Mathew Mizell of St. Louis, MO, Nathan Mizell of Greenville, Drew and Ryan Mizell of Birmingham, AL, Rachel Mizell of Greenville, NC, Meredith Mizell of Greenville, and Jonathan Mizell of Camp Lejeune, NC; two great grandchildren, Abriana Mizell of Birmingham, AL and Gloria Franseen of Greenville; two brothers, Robert Mizell of Springfield, IL and Rillis Mizell of Joliet, IL. He was preceded in death by four brothers and three sisters. Memorials may be made to Teams Ministries of Men for Missions, c/o Hampton Park Baptist Church, 875 State Park Rd., Greenville, SC 29609. Visitation will be held Friday, December 14, 2007 from 2 to 3:15 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown. The funeral service will follow at 3:30 p.m. in the Downtown Chapel. Burial will be at Graceland East Memorial Park.
