John James Sexton

John James Sexton, 70, of 335 McKelvey Road, husband of Valerie Clanton Sexton, died Wednesday, October 26, 2005 at his residence. Born in Greenville, he was the son of the late James Elbert Sexton and Grace Scott Pendleton. Mr. Sexton was the retired owner of The Radiator and also owned Lee Road ESSO and Wade Hampton Chevron and was a lifelong member of Reedy Fork Baptist Church. Surviving in addition to his wife are two sons and daughter-in-law, Stephen Eric Sexton of Piedmont, John Russell and Donna Sexton of Marietta; a brother and sister-in-law, Keith and Sue Sexton of Bull Head City, AZ.; a sister and brother-in-law, Iris and Jim Soloman of Washington State; a step-father, R.E. Pendleton of Greenville; step-brother, Roger Pendleton and his wife Kathy of Iva; step-mother, Marjorie Sexton of Columbus, GA.; step-brother, James Michael Sexton of Columbus, GA.; step-sister, Anne Bingham and her husband Mike of Columbus, GA.; a granddaughter, Crystal Sexton of Greer; a great aunt, Edna Smith of Duncan; his three dogs, Shucks, Bruiser, and Lucy. He was preceded in death by a brother, Curtis Sexton and a grandson, Shane Phillips-Sexton. Memorials may be made to Make A Wish Foundation, 726 Lowndes Hill Road, Ste. C, Greenville, SC 29607. Visitation will be held Thursday, October 27, 2005 from 6:30 until 8:00 PM at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown. Funeral services will be conducted Friday, October 28, 2005 at 3:00 PM in the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Park. The family will be at their respective homes.
